Nova is a kick ass survivor of a nearly extinct human species on Earth. She's had an extremely hard life, watching her family pass away, sometimes violently. She's been alone a long time and she doesn't trust easily. She meets the Maji when she's spying on why they are on Earth. She's almost killed but they save her. Kol, the shipmaster, or head of the spaceship, feels a connection the moment they met. However, he is on a mission and Nova (unbeknown to her) is part of it. He can't leave here knowing what he knows. We have Kol not telling the whole trust and Nova not trusting anything because she somehow feels like there is more going on. These two have to learn to compromise and finally trust each other if there is any hope of them together. I would like to say that the beginning of the book was a lot of information, the author was building this new world. Its not a lot of chapters, but a few. While its a little hard to get through, I felt like it helped the rest of the story to flow smoothly. So my suggestion is to get this book knowing the author spends some time on world building but its well worth it. Reviewed for HeadTripping Books by Amy
